A picture is worth..............

We all know the saying. I found out yesterday that my friend was moving her wedding up from next March to possibly July now! Yikes, that cuts my 'get in shape for the wedding' time way down. But I thought it would just motivate me to push a little harder.

Then, I saw a few pictures of me at the pool last summer. Yikes is an understatement. My back looked like a linebacker. It was scary. And the legs....well, we won't go there! So, now I have double the motivation to kick it up a notch!

My journal tip for the day: Target ALL your muscles. Varying the amount of weight you lift will help you work more muscle fibers and improve your definition, strength and endurance. Example: Monday 3-5 reps of heavy weights, Wednesay 12-15 reps of light weights and Friday 8-10 reps of moderate weight.

Off to Body Pump this morning then adding more cardio to step it up a notch!

  1. It's amazing what a pic will do to you. I saw recent pics of me...and I was so embarassed. I told myself I would go swimsuit shopping in March. So whenever I reach for that scone or muffin...I think twice.
    Thanks for encouraging everyone Kathy!

  2. A picture can truly be life altering! It looks like my work out life is on hold for the week, as Jason has moved to night work this week and getting home at 6:30 does not allow me to work out and fix dinner (aren't they old enough to do it themselves yet??) for the munchkins. However, I stayed true to my 1200 calories yesterday, and am on task to do so again today. I'm also not metro-ing it this week, instead trying to take rides to anywhere on 18th St, worked out well this morning as I got a mile walk in before work. Looking forward to Body Step on Saturday morning though!!

  3. Good for you Jen on getting your mile walk in this a.m.! Start looking for rides to Capitol Hill or Southeast. Then you can give up your gym membership. ;->

  4. Jen, Walking is great. I lost more weight walking a few years ago. How do you like Body Step? Have you tried Strive? It's a good general workout. I'm addicted to Body Pump.

Today (after the picture moment) I increased my weights. I thought I was going to die. I added a 10 min run, 10 min bike and 10 min eliptical.

Melissa, I need to carry that picture w. me to 'just say no' to treats. I'm still fast food, chips, beer and soda free! My weight isn't changing but my liver is happy! LOL!

Pam.....awesome walk yesterday! What's the plan for todays 30 min?

Cloie...how's Florida. Bring Back some Sunshine!

  5. Not sure about today's 30 minutes. I'd like to get outside for a walk before the kids get home from school, but if not, I'll get on my elliptical while Mike and Jack are at cub scouts. I'm working on laundry right now. It's been clean, sitting in baskets, for a week... I may also do some yoga tonight, but not before I vacuum. My OCD kicks in when I'm on the floor staring at dog hair from a nose-length away!

  6. Thought I would share a quote from The Biggest Loser last week..."You're going to spend your whole life living out of this body. This is food is crap." Ugh, pretty eye opening episode about the foods we eat.

  7. I walked for 35 minutes in the neighborhood this afternoon. Since I've started committing to at least 30 minutes a day, I've only missed 2 days!
