  1. Good luck on your 15/week goal. That sounds like a great goal. Doable, but still pushing it a bit.

I just did 200 sit-ups and 30 "girl" push-ups again today. The honeymoon is over... they're getting harder to do!

  9. Okay... so I haven't been on here in several days. Just got back from a 40 minute walk. 1st walk in over 2 weeks. Was reminded how easily our bodies become accustomed to being sedintary. Ankle feels a little sore from the walk and I'm a little more tired than I'd like to admit, but otherwise the walk was GREAT! It was a reminder of why it's important to do SOMEthing every day.

  10. ysy!!!!!!!! you are great Pam! it was a nice day to get out! I was antsy to do something but busy today so I'm jealous, I think I could use the outlet to get rid of some stress :o). remember it's a good sore, sort of. although I know you still have to be careful of your feet right now from your surgery! proud of you

  11. Thanks Cloie! I got out and did another 40-ish minute walk today and have already done 50 situps and 10 "girl" push-ups. I need to start going somewhere to walk, though. The route through the neighborhood is getting a bit dry. I think I've counted every bloom, every sappling & every blade of grass between my house and the back of the neighborhood! ;->

  12. battlefield of route 3 n lafyette?, is really nice. it's a good five mile walk/run up to the next street. think the whole thing is much longer but that first stretch is 2.5 so it's good for up and back and there aren't too many cars, but enough cars that you don't feel lonely...:o). ugh sittups, gotta talk myself into em.

  13. mowing the lawn today. hey and I did situps and push ups today, proud of me? finally talked myself into it Pam! thanks for the motivation!

  16. It's a beautiful a.m., so I was going to take a walk, but there is some NASTY smoke in the air in our neighborhood and my asthma symptoms are coming back, so I think it's the elliptical for me today. Gonna start "easy" with some sit-ups 1st, though. I'm motivated to get this done now 'cause I have a hair appointment at 10:40.

  17. Okay... 200 sit-ups/crunches. 15 "girl" push-ups. 37 minutes on the elliptical. I stink. It's shower time!

  18. I think you and I are opposites on the push ups and sit ups. I can do more push ups than situps. in fact, i can't do sit ups at all, just crunches. good job girly! proud of you. got a cold so I'm not running today. hope to be over it in a day or so. keep moving Pam, you motivate me!

  19. hi everyone! ran with my Emma yesterday morn, lovely day and she didn't complain! it was nice to have running partner for an early morn run. then I drank a lot of beer, guess it all evened out. have great weekend!

  20. @Cloie - when I say sit-ups, I mean crunches. Maybe that'll make you feel better!

Good you had a nice run. I still haven't started running yet. I am trying to find the motivation to get up early and exercise. Haven't found it yet. Bed always sounds SO much better!

I did 100 CRUNCHES today & 35 minutes on the elliptical. Also did 35 minutes on the elliptical a couple of days ago and 10 minutes swimming at the pool y'day. Now... if I can just stay motivated to swim during "adult swim" each time the kids & I are up at the pool...

  21. yes, keep motivated for adult swim. that is GREAT calorie burning stuff. your foot will heel soon, no worries. I do feel better, but still you are stronger at the crunches, time for me to dig in and get there with those. walked today, think about 5 miles downtown, but fast cuz my friend is a walker, but she's hardcore. :O) proud of everyone for moving on this hot sticky day!

  22. Okay... need some advice, ladies. Here's the situation: I tried running again today.... the kind I do when I'm just getting started where I walk past a few driveways then run past a few and so on. Anyway... AGAIN, my calves and shins started hurting like a DOG! I stretched before I left and stretched during my "ralk." No relief. My shins & calves don't hurt like that when I use the elliptical.

    Ideas? Potassium?

Also... I finished up my walk JUST walking, and my feet felt like I had on cement shoes.

I wanna get back to where I can run again. HELP!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. how bout your shoes? how old are they? sometimes it can be a support thng with the soles. also, tying your shoes too. you should put your shoe on, tape your heel on the floor to set your foot in right and then tie em if you are doing these things already, disreguard, i don"t pretend to know but it helped me. maybe ask em at va runner to watch how you run at the store. good guys over there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. tap your heal not tape...sorry, still working with ust one st of fingers :o)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks!
Shoes are good. Think the ties are good, but I'll double check that. Maybe I'll stretch longer and start my run on a flat surface instead of up or down a hill.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Okay... so I think I figured out that I'm really out of shape and working out on the elliptical, while better than nothing, is not the same as GETTING OUTSIDE.

Today I just walked and could feel it in my calves and backs of my thighs. So... again I think I need to just walk and not worry about running for now. Poo!

  27. great job Pam! i haven"t done much since the dreaded snake bite. intending to get back out there though!

  28. I did it! Okay... the last several walks, including tonight, have been miserable. My calves and shins start to seize up almost immediately. Tonight I decided I was going to walk almost 4 miles even if I had to take baby steps and it took me all night. Well... after about 3 miles or so, my calves and shins "gave in" and I was able to run about 1/4 - 1/2 mile!!! Granted, it was flat then WAY down hill... but my feet were moving in a run-like fashion!!! I was starting to worry that after hitting 40, running wasn't something I'd be able to do again.
